Not to be cynical but I'm not all that disappointed in where the economy is going and even a bit glad that it is going south. Why would I think such a thing? Because as a majority we have lost sight of responsible economic practices and we are learning the lesson the hard way. Right now we are just starting to reap what we have been sowing. In the end perhaps we can learn a lesson in dealing with the human condition of greed.

I only have one goal for the coming year and that is to write a greater story with my life. Yes, I know that sounds vague and goals are supposed to be specific and measurable but for now that's a start. Like Will, I am feeling that I need to live out God's calling in my life and that is going to take me places even further out of the comfort zone. But what I know to be true is that living in complacency is not really living. The story that I want to live is out there and I just need to write it with courage and faith.

Looking back at 2007 I think one of the big lessons I learned is to take time to change habits after encountering a new perspective on life. So often I would think of something or hear something great and want to go in a different direction but put it off and never apply it. But this year I've been taking the initiative to research, understand, and obsess about new ideas and figure out what I should do about them. And then reevaluate and reconsider the current way I do things or adapt to a new lifestyle.
